Pizza is among the top foods commonly ordered for take-out.
This is not only because it is easy to eat but also because
it has lots of flavors to choose from.

Ordering pizza is also very easy. There are lots of restaurants now that you could call to have a box delivered to you. Or if you do not know the numbers all you have to do is just order pizza online and your problem is solved.

But wait a minute before you order, let me ask you something. How much do you know about pizza? Now that makes you think, right? If you still can’t answer, then let me give you some food for your brain.

The earliest form of pizza was traced back in Ancient Greece in the form of “pita”. The Greeks covered their pita with oil, herbs and cheese. Nearby countries have seen this and started to adapt what the Greeks were doing until the pizza we have was born.

Recipe of pizza became more creative with the help of other countries. In 1889, a tavern owner, Don Raffaele Esposito produced a very special pizza which was similar to the Italian flag. Its toppings were composed of the flag’s three colors: red (tomatoes), white (mozzarella cheese) and green (basil). Esposito served this pizza to Queen Margherita of Savoy during her visit to Naples. Since that time, the pizza was then called Margherita.

Various pizza toppings were then started to be used by different countries to come up with new flavors. The Australian pizza is usually comprised of toppings like barbecue, shrimp and pineapple. Japanese people are fond of sea foods so don’t wonder if their pizza is topped with squid or eel. Same with Pakistan but instead of sea foods, they prefer spices so they have the curry pizza.

For you to be able to try those kinds of pizza, you’ll have to go to those countries or attend pizza events. Americans have a pizza month (October) where many kinds of pizza are present. You can also plan a trip to Las Vegas to attend the Pizza Expo known to be as the world’s largest pizza only trade show. That would just be very exciting.
